Hot and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Pakistan today, with southern regions likely to experience intense heat, according to the Meteorological Department.

Officials said that temperatures are expected to remain above normal in many areas, particularly in southern districts where heat conditions may become severe during the daytime.

During the past 24 hours, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 46°C in Turbat and Nawabshah, indicating a continuing heatwave trend in these regions. Other cities also experienced high temperatures, with Sakrand recording 45°C, while Dadu, Lasbela, and Mohenjo-daro reported 44°C.

Hyderabad and Sukkur recorded maximum temperatures of 42°C, while Multan and Sahiwal experienced temperatures around 38°C. In Karachi, the temperature reached 35°C, while Lahore recorded 34°C.

In northern parts of the country, relatively moderate temperatures were observed. Islamabad and Peshawar recorded 33°C, while Quetta and Muzaffarabad saw temperatures around 30°C. Gilgit remained the coolest among major regions, with a maximum temperature of 23°C.

The Meteorological Department has advised citizens to take precautionary measures, especially during peak daytime hours. People are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, and take extra care of children, elderly individuals, and outdoor workers.

Experts warn that continued high temperatures could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly in southern regions. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and may issue further advisories if heat conditions intensify in the coming days.
